Summary

We’ve all seen the stats. While rates of occupational injuries in North America and across much of Europe have dropped steadily over the past two decades, the rate of work fatalities has, unfortunately, remained stubbornly unchanged. In the desire to understand why, we have since learned that the conditions that give rise to serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs), as well as the measures required to prevent them, are quite different when compared to less-severe events.

This discovery has led to a flurry of new strategies, initiatives and innovations all designed to help organizations better detect the early warning signs of SIFs, and take more targeted, meaningful and effective action to address conditions before they can contribute to the worst outcomes imaginable. But where does technology fit into that equation?

We invite you to join Cority’s Sean Baldry, CRSP, as he explores the roots of modern SIF prevention approaches and discusses how organizations are leveraging technology- and specifically software- to help them address the key challenges in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of serious injuries and fatalities.

In this session, we’ll review:

  • The origins of SIF prevention;
  • Key SIF prevention elements, including SIF precursors, SIF potential and critical controls;
  • How organizations can structure their EHS programs to support a SIF prevention model; and
  • How software is being leveraged to support SIF prevention approaches, improve knowledge sharing and reduce the risks of workplace harm.
